Our Employment Counsellors are
professionally trained and committed to ensuring that clients get
the assistance they need, utilizing a collaborative, client-centred
approach. One-on-one appointments with an Employment Counsellor are
available for individuals who are unemployed or underemployed.

Workshops
Tailored For You
Offered weekly, these workshops are designed to meet your needs
specializing in areas that will assist you in your quest for the right
job. For example, if you have need to sharpen your computer skills with
a program such as Excel or a specified task such as Mail Merge, then
this workshop is for you. These workshops can also focus on
personalized job search, interviews and other job or work related
topics.

This session provides the unemployed with information on resources
available.
Resumé / Cover Letter Workshop
This workshop provides up-to-date information on how to write a resumé and
cover letter. By the end of the workshop, you will have your own current, tailored resumé and cover letter.
Introduction to the Computer for
Work Search
This workshop provides the basic skills to operate a computer,
function within the Windows operating system and access basic computer
programs to assist with job search activities.
Job
Postings
Local job postings are compiled and updated as they come in. They are
on this web site, hung on the job board in the office, and available in
print form to take with you.
Services for Employers
To best assist our job-seeking clientele we
offer free job posting space for employers. The employer can access the job
postings form on the web site or at our office.

The VIEW (Value in Experienced Workers): Funded under the Targeted
Initiative For Older Workers program.
Applicants accepted into the VIEW
participate in a 12-week skills development program. The VIEW is a 25
hour/week commitment for which the individual may receive income
support. The focus is on obtaining job search skills, employability and
life skills and computer training in order to equip each participant
for entry or re-entry into the workforce. Participants may also obtain
certification (Foodsafe, WHMIS, First Aid, etc.) if needed. This
program is available for individuals aged 50 and over.
Community Assistance Program
Funded by The Province of
British Columbia
Assisting individuals and families to enhance skills that will improve quality of life and participation in their communities.
Services are offered free of charge.
Services are flexible
and tailored to best address individual needs. We offer one-on-one
counselling and/or group sessions. We advocate on behalf of individuals
and families to connect with the appropriate service provider in their
community:
Participants must be referred by the Ministry of
Housing and Social Development.
Targeted Wage Subsidy
The Targeted Wage Subsidy Program assists individuals
in securing long-term employment. Horton Ventures Inc. can negotiate an
agreement with an employer that will subsidize part of the wage of a
new employee who may not otherwise have been hired. Eligible
participants in the Targeted Wage Subsidy Program normally have a proven work history and are interested in learning new skills while securing long-term employment.
Note: Wage subsidy agreements must be in place before a participant starts work.
Eligibility of Employee:
- You must have an active EI claim, OR, have
received EI or established an EI claim within the last 3 years, OR,
have received Maternity or Parental benefits or established a claim
within the last 5 years.
- You must be referred by an Employment Assisted Services center (Community Employment Services) in 100 Mile House ) and have a completed Return-to-Work Action Plan.
- You must have an up-to-date resume and be “job ready”.
Eligibility of Employer:
- You must have up-to-date WCB coverage and be in
compliance with WCB.
- You must be willing to provide full time
employment.
- You must have been in business for more than
one year.
